It didn’t passed a lot of time from the last Google Search Algorithm and already a lot of rumors and concerns are out there on the internet. Many are afraid that the niche site will be impacted by the Google search algorithm, and they will not rank in first places of Google. Others was already stroked by this update and their sites were penalized by Google.
Already a lot of articles have appeared on the net with the things from above and I’ve thought that it was time to express my point of view and share with you the things that I have seen from the time when the Farmer/Panda Update was done and until now.
What Farmer/Panda Update Impacts:
- Poorly written content
- Shallow content (not enough content to be useful)
- Content copied from other sites
- Content that’s not useful
This are some of the things that this Google algorithm impacts, you have to be careful with the content that you post on your site because this update affects 11% from the algorithm so is quite a big change done by Google.
Effects of the Farmer/Panda Update
A lot of hysteria is out there after the update, many are complaining that their sites have received a quite hard paunch from Google and maybe they will never became what they were. Ezinearticles.com was one of the ones stroke by this update, their visitors have decreased dramatically since the update. Other sites like hubpages and Squido have announce that they have been stroked hard too.
But what you can do this is normal to happen, the way to perfection has to have some casualties, some sites like Squido and other obscure article marketing directories (I don’t include in this category Ezinearticles.com because they are some of the best but even so they still received a punch) deserve their faith.
For a long time I was waiting for something like this from Google, the update is welcomed because for sure it will be more relevant results and sites with good and original content will be more advantaged.
Effect over Niche sites
Most blogger are very afraid of the effects over the niche sites, because they are a very good way to earn money online and that’s why a lot of bloggers are so afraid. Some of the bloggers have reported that the update pulled their site down in rankings and they were not that happy, other reported that the updated bring their sites up and their earnings increased.
Some of the bloggers are saying that because of the Farmer/Panda Update making money with niche sites will not be that easy and it will be more better to renounce on this way of making money online. I say that giving up is a stupidity because Google will still rank them if the content is good. The only difference now is that the content needs to more original and not copied from other sites like it happened in the past.
Effects over regular blogs
Well, what I could observe is that the regular bloggers that have good content ( not copied, rewrite one and not duplicated) was positive. For example my site that has original content written by me, had a increase of visitors coming from Google after the update. The increase was about 20-30%, a quite big number I might add. I guess that this happen for more sites not just for me, the sites with good and useful articles had only to gain.
What are the next steps
Google is constantly making changes and be well prepared is a must if you want to have success in receiving visitor. Writing original and good content must always come on first place, because this will help you and your blog prevail. Every step and every little thing is very important, thats why a close look and attention has to be given to every thing that you do.
Traditional ways will still work ?
This is one of the question that bugs me most, the things that had success before the update will still work now?
- Spinning will still work or it will be penalized by Google – well in my opinion a good spin of the article will not be noticed by Google. So I guess that the spin will be ok as long as is not abused and is done good. Just to be on safe side I suggest to not publish the original article on your blog as others done.
- Rewriting others articles - this will still also work if will bring something new, so don’t just be satisfied with rewriting other articles, try to enhance it with your own stuffs.
- How original the article has to be – content that is steeled in proportion of 100% will not have any values. I guess that nothing is original anymore on the internet and everything is rewritten to a certain point. In my opinion is ok not to have the hole article original, but at lest 40% needs to be original ( I am referring here more on the niche sites part)
This are my thoughts about the Farmer/Panda Update, hopefully will help you to understand better what you have to do next.

Only time will tell for those site that are garbage type sites, but as of now many of my close friend blogs are still kicking hard..so just keep writing Good content..

Hi Dragos,
That was a nice explanation of the rumors and the effect that the Google Panda update may have. My blog seems to have clean chit in the Google Panda update and instead in fact like you I am currently having and increase in organic traffic. I have till now not tested my hands on niche sites but I am sure even niche sites with good content won’t be affected at all by the Panda Update.
Thanks for the post,
Regards,
Shiva

PR has always been affected by the content quality, so I think this algorithm was already has been introduce into PR calculation for a long time. Now Google just made some drastic changes to the results that they were showing.
I always come to the right place to visit. Now Im here and find some very useful articles. Good Job. I always want to visit this site again. Cheers !!.
If you rely on content as part of a marketing strategy it needs to be of good quality. This algorithm update is a reminder that we shouldn’t rely too heavily on one strategy. We should use a good mix. Therefore, after an algorithm change we don’t risk losing our search presence entirely.
Well written article mate, short and straight to the point. I like the way Google has done it this time, unique content deserves to be appreciated.

Content is King! (And quality inbounds are queen I’d say) . Good article here thanks Dragos. I actually just stumbled upon Squidoo very recently and have been toying with the idea of getting involved. But you say its actually of poor quality and thus getting penalized. You mean Squidoo is publishing articles of questionable value/quality in general ?- And thus google is hitting them as a ‘bearer of rubbish news’?
Indeed Squidoo will not bring you to much benefits, instead it will be better to try HubPages or do WEB 2.0 blogs and build links to them.
Thanks Dracos, Great to see some of the blogs I read still doing well or even better after Google’s latest Panda update. At the end of the day we all need to make sure our content is well written.

There was really a lot of discussions on Google Panda, it was the hot topic for months and how ezine and Google Panda tried to clean up has proved that content is king. It may also be not possible to write quality content every time but by trying to filter out poor quality content the internet is definitely more clutter free.
