Things that Google Loves Most on Your Site

images Things that Google Loves Most on Your SiteIn my opinion Google is the best and bigger search engine, Bing and Yahoo have no chance touching it any time soon. Thats why a special attention needs to be given to optimizing the content and focusing in reaching the first places. Many are saying that to much people  are obsessed over SEO, I say why not be when Google can give you thousands of visitors for a keyword every month, help you sell products/services and make you known.

A lot of changes happen in the last year on Google, resulting in straighting his top position because of his ability to give more and more relevant results. In this article I would like to summarize the things that Google loves and will help you in reaching the first page.

Things that Google Love Most on Your Site

1. Original Content

Original content is the key in reaching first places, Google loves quality and unique content. As much as you try without unique content you will not have a chance. A lot of sites spin and copy the content which is not a good thing and eventually they will be penalized. Try to write with your own words the article and you will be on the right track.

2. Regular Updated Content

To rank high your content not only needs to be original it also needs to be updated frequently. Writhing 2-3 articles a week will assure your success and your site will start to rank higher and higher.

3. Internal linking and site structure

Is not a secret any more that Google really loves the sites that have a strong internal links. Structure of a site is very important also not only for Google but also for the visitors, moving and finding the information easy on your site will contribute to your success. Many are calling this: search engine friendly structure.

4. Twitter and Facebook links

In Q4 last year Google decided to add Twitter and Facebook links to their algorithm and use them in ranking your site. As much quality links from Twitter and Facebook you will have the much chances in reaching first place will be.

5. Authority backlinks

Google is using Page Rank to rate sites, to have an effect links must be from related site. Don’t try to links with the sites from a different category because it will not bring to much weight and not help you a lot. Also a few high PR links are better the a lot of links from lower PR sites.

6. Outbound links

Controlling the number of outbound links is very important, using the rel=”nofollow” for as much links as you can on your website is important if your want to have higher rankings. To reduce the impact of outbound links is advisable to link only with the sites from your category.

7. Title and Description

Every article has to have a distinct title and description and  to summarize best the article. A lot of blogger are ignoring this which is no good if they want a good SEO.

8. Site Maps

Every website should have a  site maps because they are helping  search engines to figure out your site structure and index the site faster. So if you are not using one start using.

Good list Dragos, I have only recently started reading your blog and am finding your posts essential reading now :-)

One thing I would add to this list would be – ‘Themeing’, in my opinion, and this comes from lots of analysis, testing and general sightings during my day to day SEO practices, the way a website is themed can make a huge difference in ranking capabilities and it seems that over the last 12 months this is getting more and more important when targeting competative keywords / search phrases… A good example of this would be the fact that directories who generaly have a total lack of targeted ‘site theme’ about them are dropping down the SERP.

    • I assume your are speaking towards the relevance of content and not the aesthetics or webpage template theme. Just asking for clarification since “Themeing” holds differing meanings based on the audience. For example a graphic artist will picture something completely different than that of a programmer to that of an instructional designer.

    Don’t forget site speed!

@Ben… very valid point you make there, Google really loves sharp quick page loads, however small the ranking factor is it is def a positive :-)

I think you’ve done a good job with putting this list together, just as with some of the other articles I’ve read on this site. I would like to share some of my experience with Facebook and Twitter. I am seeing that Twitter retweets from authority tweeters affect ranking position, but I’m only seeing this bump effect last for a short period of time.

  6. Great article Dragos. Google definitely loves all the things you have listed here, but if I could add one more it would be backlinks from authority sites in your chosen niche.

Google loves backlinks, but they love them even better when they are coming from sites that are related to your niche.

Thanks for sharing your insights, and I agree that Bing and Yahoo won’t be able to touch Google any time soon.

  7. Really good list, I didn’t see site speed though and I know Google loves a fast site. I also agree that inner linking is loved big time. I took one of my blogs and added a few good plugins that went through and inner linked old pages and I began to see a rise in traffic to many of my older inner pages.
