Why permalink structure is important:
Setting up correctly the permalinks in WordPress is one of the things that contribute to your blog’s better search engine optimization (SEO). Using relevant slugs for categories, pages and posts will help improve your general ranking. Those looking to get the most out of these permalinks will want to use the best format and also remove the ‘category base’.
Permalink structure:
Is important to start from the beginning with a correct format because when you will have allot of content it will be harder to modified it. For tech-doze.com site I will chose a structure formed only from the post-name, on bitdoze.com I have used a structure formed by category-name and post-name.
To change your permalinks, simply go to Settings >> Permalinks. I currently use the following format on tech-doze:
Some people like to have categories in there but I like to keep URL’s as short as possible.
Remove the ‘category base’:
To do this I have used one plugin first Top Level Categories with this one I had problems, my child category give an 404 error on I was trying to access. So then I had to change the plugin with the WP No Category Base this one works grate.

This is an excellent article that will help bloggers or SEO practitioner to understand better what is dofollow and permalinks. I am still not sure which is the biggest advantage in SEO and traffic for blog owners – to keep the blog clean or to open it for comments and links?

Interestant article for all bloggers, true that the permalinks are very important for SEO. I always change them when i start a new blog.
I highly agree that creating good permalinks is of a great importance. After optimizing those, a friend of mine got an increase in traffic of about 25%, which is pretty decent. Unfortunately doing that on a Blogger platform seems to be close to impossible. Compared to WordPress, it is very limited when it comes to customization.

This is a great artcile and will help bloggers get found a little easier. i think a lot of bloggers probably give up after a short time thinking that no one is reading their blogs when it is a simple case of people are not discovering them. Good SEO coupled with community interaction can help any blog succeed – and a little perserverance!

On some sites I use the Year/month/post name permalinks, on ym new article directory however I decided to take the route of simple /postname permalinks.
I did this for SEO reasons, since many populaewebsites report this as the most SEO friendly kind of link!
